Gardner picks up first win with three shutout innings

Joe Gardner allowed two hits, walked two and struck out four in three shutout innings Thursday to pick up his first Arizona Fall League win in a 7-2 Salt River win.

In was the third start of the fall for Gardner, who is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in seven innings.

Nolan Arenado was 1-for-4 and extended his fall hitting streak to 12 games — he has at least one hit in every game he has played in the AFL. Tim Wheeler was 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Reliever Parker Frazier allowed two runs on three hits in an inning and Rob Scahill walked one and struck out two in an inning.
