Not a snowball’s chance in hell this happens. It’s likely that his agent approached the Rox and inquired knowing we need a corner outfielder. After the laughing subsided, the Rox rep probably said something along the lines of “are you f**king kidding me, we wouldn’t take him if he volunteered to pay us.”
Ed, I believe that is true, but why waste the time even meeting? A man doesn’t walk on a lot, as they say.
Story planted by Bradley’s agent (I’m guessing). You may have missed it, but Bradley was just busted a few weeks ago for a domestic violence incident. The press report included a now-classic police report line: Milton was swinging a bat at his wife “batting cage style.”
Good to see he’s getting in his offseason work …
This even being reported never mind being a story aptly describes just how slow this off season has been so far for the Rockies. As far as Bradley with the Rockies it would be fair to say that there is no possible way I could see this ever happening.
Jim Tracy’s lineup vs. Milton Bradley…hell, Iannetta can’t even get regular work. CI’s a stand-up guy and a professional…
So far I have only seen this story garner a casual reference by those national guy(s) that typically make a living on rumors. Strictly my opinion but I think the biggest reason it was even mentioned was because it was ALLEGED that Bradley *may* be plan B if the Rockies are unable to aquire Grady Sizemore.
I have to wonder if Troy Renck or Thomas Harding tried verifying this with the Rockies or Gordon Wittenmyer?
I couldn’t agree more with Ed the Ump.
Also, I don’t understand the Rockies interest in ex-Rays. Platooning Jonny Gomes with Seth Smith??? SERIOUSLY???
I thought O’Dowd said he isn’t interested in mediocre free agents any more?
I guess its easier to say that than to prove you mean it.
I think the Rockies are addicted to Groupon. Always trying to find that miracle bargain. In the end they end up spending more on crap they wouldn’t have needed if they only stepped up with the GUTS that it takes to make a commitment to good players.
For the price of Wigginton, Jose Lopez, Mark Ellis, and whatever guy comes in at $3 or $4m this year to play 2B we could have had Dan Uggla (who despite a down year dwarfed the Rockies 2B production).
I just wrote on another thread that the Rockies need to take a chance and think outside the box. But Milton Bradley? You gotta be kidding. He’s had 100 chances and blown every one of them.
