The Colorado Rockies are set to trade reliever Huston Street to the San Diego Padres in exchange for a minor-leaguer, according to multiple reports. The Padres will reportedly pick up most of the $8 million Street is owed in 2012.
Once considered one of the top prospects in the game with the Los Angeles Angels, Brandon Wood has struggled with strikeouts in the majors and was outrighted by the Pittsburgh Pirates after the season.
ESPN’s Buster Olney reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers will sign second baseman Mark Ellis to a two-year deal worth a little less than $4.5 million a year. Ellis is a Type B free agent, and the Colorado Rockies, who acquired Ellis in a trade last season, will received a supplemental round pick if he signs with the Dodgers.
MLB.com’s Thomas Harding reports that the Colorado Rockies are interested in free-agent right-hander Roy Oswalt. Oswalt was 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 2011 while missing significant time with back problems.
The Colorado Rockies have inquired with the Atlanta Braves about Martin Prado. The Braves are reportedly looking for outfield help and may have interest in Rockies outfielder Seth Smith. Prado, who has played second base, third base and left field regularly in the past, would likely fit at second with the Rockies.

Earlier, Joel Sherman from the New York Post reported that the feeling from rival executives is that the Rockies would like to find a deal for Jimenez.
