Rockies’ hot stove

November 30, 2011 | 4:19 pm | 20

Starting a new thread because the “Not renewing season tickets” has veered from this topic into hot stove discussions.
Ramon Santiago signed with the Tigers for two years and he is expected to share 2B with Ryan Raburn.   Does that mean one less team in the Martin Prado sweepstakes?  The Braves reportedly wanted a CF along with Seth Smith.  The Rockies were not willing to give up Wheeler and Blackmon.  Come on Rockies, we can live without Wheeler or Blackmon.  Prado is more beneficial to us than keeping Wheeler/Blackmon.

Young dismissed from Winterball

November 29, 2011 | 3:52 pm | 8

The Bravos de Margarita dismissed Young last week, and media reports cited tardiness — showing up late for two games. Young’s statement, released through his representatives at CAA, calls the reports “incomplete and erroneous.”
In the statement, Young said a problem with travel arrangements for a family member led to his arriving in the fifth inning of a game on Thanksgiving Day. Young also stated that the incident was his only attendance issue and added that the team failed to address his safety and security concerns for his family member.

Rule 5 – Everth Cabrera – what might have been?

November 24, 2011 | 9:15 am | 2

With the Rule 5 draft quickly approaching a quirky thought occurred to me.  If you could somehow rewrite the history books would you have protected Everth Cabrera to be the Rockies regular second baseman?  For those who don’t recall, Everth Cabrera was claimed in the Rule 5 draft by the Padres from the Rockies system and quickly became the Padres everyday shortstop a couple years back.
Cabrera is basically a slick fielding EY2  type player as a switch hitter and very effective base stealer, however he can also play defensively at shortstop.  He is …

Not renewing my ticket package.

November 23, 2011 | 4:54 pm | 44

Barring some sort of move in the positive direction within the next few days when the renewal period ends, I will be letting it go.
Last year I took the big leap from buying individual tickets to investing and prepaying for a ticket package.
The apparent disinterest in making roster improvements (addition by subtraction doesn’t impress me) makes this decision pretty easy for me.

Are any others not renewing? Or conversely are others optimistic still?

Report: Oswalt on Rockies list

November 9, 2011 | 10:18 pm | 20

MLB.com’s Thomas Harding reports that the Colorado Rockies are interested in free-agent right-hander Roy Oswalt. Oswalt was 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA in 2011 while missing significant time with back problems.

Report: Rockies inquire on Prado

November 9, 2011 | 10:14 pm | 41

The Colorado Rockies have inquired with the Atlanta Braves about Martin Prado. The Braves are reportedly looking for outfield help and may have interest in Rockies outfielder Seth Smith. Prado, who has played second base, third base and left field regularly in the past, would likely fit at second with the Rockies.

How many are interested in pitching in to keep ITR going?

November 8, 2011 | 6:07 pm | 78

I wanted to start a new thread dedicated to keeping ITR going.  I know we had some discussion on the “Thank You ITR…” post, but that is more of a “thanks to the guys…” and i want this to be strictly for those interested in keeping it alive, in one form or another.  In case you haven’t heard – Steve, Jack and Tracy are calling it quits at the end of the year.  Many have proposed that we find a way to take over the site from them at years …

Thank you to ITR. Its sad to be ending.

November 5, 2011 | 10:26 am | 73

I just read the posting that ITR will close at the stroke of 12. …2012.
I am sincerely saddened by this. I really enjoyed reading and sharing thoughts on the Rockies with every one.
What are we going to do with out it? We need a new meeting place that we can bring the majority of posters and not be corrupted with the BS of boards like ESPN, etc.
Again, I really enjoyed the conversations. Thanks to Steve, Jack and Tracy and all posters.
