Rockies farm roundup: Arenado racks up two more RBI

With just one game left in the regular season, Nolan Arenado continues to hit, going 2-for-5 and adding two more RBI two his minor-league leading total in Modesto’s 10-1 win. Scott Robinson had four hits and drove in three in the game to back Alan DeRatt, who pitched seven shutout innings.

Modesto shortstop Josh Rutledge, who had a 27-game hitting streak snapped Thursday, was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs in a 6-3 Nuts win Sunday. After hitting .448 in July, Rutledge hitting .480 in August.

Tri-City’s Christian Bergman, a 24th-round pick by the Rockies in 2010, pitched a four-hit shutout, walking no one and striking out six. In his previous start, Bergman pitched seven scoreless innings on four hits and walked only one.

The Sky Sox scored three runs in the top of the ninth on an error, a ground-rule double and a wild pitch to take a 6-3 lead. That followed an RBI single in the eighth inning by second baseman Chris Nelson, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI, to tie the game at 3-3.

Modesto’s Chad Bettis allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, walked two and matched a career high in strikeouts with 11 in seven innings. In his past six starts, Bettis is 3-2 with a 1.48 ERA, 27 hits and 43 strikeouts in 42 2/3 innings.

Tulsa’s Christian Friedrich took the loss for the Texas League North All-Stars, allowing three hits and a run in the second inning. Scott Beerer had the only hit among Rockies prospects, going 1-for-1 after replacing Tim Wheeler, who was hitless along with teammates Wilin Rosario and Ben Paulsen.
