Pitcher traded by Rockies for Contreras wins debut in White Sox organization
Colorado Springs right-hander dealt for veteran Jose Contreras.
The Colorado Rockies spent much of Monday trying to acquire starting pitcher Jon Garland from the Arizona Diamondbacks, but a potential deal fell apart over what the Diamondbacks wanted in return. The Rockies instead turned to the White Sox and acquired Jose Contreras for minor-leaguer Brandon Hynick.
Right-hander Brandon Hynick pitched a seven-inning perfect game for the SkySox on Tuesday.
As Stu Cole takes over the helm in Colorado Springs, some players don’t expect much to change for the first-place Sky Sox — at least, not until the parent club looks to the team for help.
Struggles lead to roster decision
Jorge De La Rosa gave the Rockies a much-needed effective outing and they beat the Dodgers to break a two-game losing streak.
