Chris Nelson two a pair of home runs in his first game at Triple-A Colorado Springs since being optioned on Wednesday.

Colorado Rockies relievers Huston Street and Matt Lindstrom made their second rehab appearances at Triple-A Colorado Springs, each pitching an inning, while Ryan Spilborghs collected two more hits in his own rehab.

Modesto’s Nolan Arenado followed three straight games with home runs by going 4-for-6 with three RBIs to bring his season total to 108. Arenado has struck out just three times in 70 at-bats in August and 47 times in 461 at-bats all season.

One day after Drew Pomeranz’s impressive debut in the Colorado Rockies organization, Alex White matched him for Double-A Tulsa, allowed just three hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings. White hasn’t allowed a run since his one-inning rehab debut at Tulsa on Aug. 4.

Modesto starting pitcher Chad Bettis pitched another gem, striking out 11 in seven shutout innings, while third baseman Nolan Arenado became the first minor leaguer with 100 RBI this season.

Starting pitcher Tyler Matzek took the loss for Ashevile but followed up his best start of the season with another solid start, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts in six innings. Matzek was coming off a start in which he allowed run and struck out nine in seven innings.

Jason Giambi helped the Colorado Springs Sky Sox to a 7-5 win by going 3-for-3 with three RBI in his latest rehab appearance at Triple-A.

Tri-City’s Christian Bergman, a 24th-round pick by the Rockies in 2010, pitched a four-hit shutout, walking no one and striking out six. In his previous start, Bergman pitched seven scoreless innings on four hits and walked only one.

Tulsa’s Ben Paulsen, starting at third base for just the first time in his minor-league career, was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run with two RBI.

The Sky Sox scored three runs in the top of the ninth on an error, a ground-rule double and a wild pitch to take a 6-3 lead. That followed an RBI single in the eighth inning by second baseman Chris Nelson, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI, to tie the game at 3-3.

Tulsa catcher Wilin Rosario continued his recent surge with four hits and Tim Wheeler hit his 27th home run. But both were overshadowed by shortstop Hector Gomez who hit two home runs and drove in seven runs in a 13-8 Drillers win.
