Colorado Springs starter Billy Buckner allowed one hit in seven shutout innings of a 2-1 extra-inning loss Thursday. Buckner, who also pitched five shutout innings on June 19, walked two and struck out five.
Starting pitcher Dan Houston threw six shutout innings, allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five in a 2-0 win at Double-A Tulsa. It was Houston’s first start since being promoted from Modesto, where he was 7-1 with a 2.53 ERA.
Tulsa’s Christian Friedrich gave up three hits and walked three in six shutout innings while another wave of Rockies prospects started their season at rookie Casper.
